How to: Tamron Pro Tips for Astrophotography

Tip #1) USE A WIDE LENS. Use an ultra-wide-angle lens like Tamron’s 17-28mm or 11-20mm zooms or 20mm prime. Shooting at 20mm or wider will help you capture as much of the milky way core as possible, and the distortion of a wide-angle lens helps create dramatic images.

Tip #2) PLAN ACCORDINGLY WITH THE MOON PHASES. The moon is a powerful light source, and you want your night sky to be as dark as possible, to get clean and clear images of the stars and milky way.

Tip #3) ADD A FOREGROUND ELEMENT. Foreground elements in astrophotography can turn a boring image into something really interesting. Foreground elements can be as simple as a plant or flower, or more dynamic such as using a lake to create a reflection.
